The Kardashian Kollection for Sears

The release of the Kardashian Kollection for Sears has been long-anticipated.  With their sexy curve-hugging dresses, pointed blazers, and animal print, this line is the epitome of the Kardashian sisters style.

I decided to head over to Sears and check out the collection for myself, but I am sorry to say I was disappointed in most of the line.  The quality of the material was poor and cheap-looking, one of their tops features a flimsy excuse for a "leather" buckle on the shoulders which completely destroyed the look of the shirt.  The dresses weren't as lacking in quality, but many of the designs were, frankly, tacky-looking in person.  So it didn't come as a surprise to me when, shortly after being released, the entire line was marked-down 30%.

There were, however, a few items I liked and would wear.  Here are my picks:

The first is the Open-Back Ottoman Dress.  I like that it is long-sleeved and simple in the front, but there are two keyhole openings in the back.  It also has pretty zipper details on the sleeves.  Overall it comes off as very chic.

The next thing is the Jersey Wrap Jumpsuit.  It is simple, stylish, and extremely comfortable.  I would probably pair it with a wide patent belt intead of the drawstring, and colorful clutch.
My last pick is their Metal Safety Pin Clutch.  Not sure why it is called that, for there is not a single safety pin on it.  Nevertheless, it is still a versitle bag with interesting detail.
So there you have it, my opinions on the Kardashian Kollection.  What are your thoughts?  Love it?  Hate it?  Kindof in between like me?  Let me know!

Pirate Outfit

Today I walked into my closet wanting to wear a maxi skirt and ended up with this.  Nothing at all what I had in mind, but it works!  I love pairing neutrals with unexpected pops of color, as done here with the purple shorts and turquoise earrings.  I've had these shorts for a while and could never seem to find a way I really liked wearing them.  But I think I found it here!  Also I got this tunic/shirt two years ago at Goodwill for a pirate costume...I guess I've discovered how to recycle what I wore for Halloween.  great.  I hope everyone's having a lovely week, I am quite excited today because I was offered a job I was hoping for!

So tell me...do you have any odd clothing pieces (like Halloween costumes) you've made into something actually wearable?  Send me links!

My Fall Wishlist

As I am sitting here patiently waiting for Irene to hit, I thought it would be good to discuss my fall fashion wishlist.  That's the hardest part of this whole hurricane business, the waiting.  The not knowing if it is going to be as destructive as we're preparing for, and the praying that it isn't.  So some distraction is great now!  Right.

The first thing I'm lusting after for fall is a pair of warm ankle boots, I love the shearling lined ones with a heel.  So perfect for pairing with skinny jeans  or dresses and knit tights.  The next thing on my list is a pair of cute Oxford flats.  I love how casual they are while adding a touch of prep to any outfit.

I'm loving all the rich colors for fall, so this season I'm dying for a bag in a jewel-toned hue.  I'd prefer a classic style, in a color like emerald or red for an unexpected twist.  Rusty orange is another hot color for fall this year, and I love how the warmness of it is brought out the this chunky sweater from Asos.

One of my favorite things about fall is breaking out all the cozy knits.  I am in need of a big chunky scarf to keep me warm during the chilly days of fall.  I love this one by Donna Karen, but I'm thinking of DIY-ing this (I'm a crocheter) I'll let you know how it goes!  The last (for now) thing on my list is a collection of classic turtlenecks.  Paired with a high-waisted skirt, belt, and statement necklace, turtlenecks are effortlessly chic and oh-so easy.

fall wishlist

The hurricane hasn't gotten here yet, but it's raining pretty hard now.  We're expected to get hit the hardest later tonight through tomorrow.  I'm about as prepared as I'll ever be!  Stocked up on popcorn, chocolate, chips, and mousse cake (all very practical, non-perishable, hurricane-appropriate food items) I'm ready to ride this thing out.follow me if you already aren't!  Stay safe this weekend everyone =]
